Hello, my lovely readers! Today I want to share with you a personal story about how my style has changed over the years and why I now value comfort over everything.
I used to be the “wear high heels and carry flats in the bag kind girl all the time”. I thought that fashion meant sacrificing comfort for beauty, and that I had to follow certain rules or trends to look good. I was afraid to experiment with different styles or colours, because I worried about what other people would think or say.
But as I grew older and wiser, I realized that fashion is not about pleasing others, but about expressing myself. I realized that I can be comfortable and stylish at the same time, and that I can wear whatever makes me happy and confident.
Here are some of the things that I used to hate, but now I love:
- Bermuda shorts. I hated them because I always looked like a high school boy in them. But now I’m all grown and womanly, I can finally wear them and not be mistaken for a young man 😂. I love how they are versatile and practical, and how they show off my legs without being too revealing. I like to pair them with a cute top and some accessories, and voila, I have a chic and casual outfit.
- Slingbacks. I hated them for the design, but they grew on me. Kitten heels. I always felt like there was no reason to be half a centimetre from the ground. Wear high heels or flats. You know what? I stand corrected. They are so comfy and stylish, and when I have a busy day and I wanna slay, I’ll go for them. I don’t like wearing sneakers unless I have to. I love how slingbacks and kitten heels add a touch of elegance and femininity to any look, without hurting my feet or back. They are perfect for work, meetings, or events, where I need to look professional and polished.
- Colourful clothes. Boy, this is a big one. I hated bright colours just because people made fun of them. I didn’t wanna be a subject of ridicule. The first time I wore a colourful outfit, I felt so beautiful and radiant, and I told myself “🤬 what other people think. This makes me happy!”. I love how colourful clothes brighten up my mood and my day, and how they reflect my personality and energy. I like to mix and match different colours and patterns, and create fun and vibrant outfits that make me stand out from the crowd.
- Loafers. I hated them simply because they reminded me of dad shoes that I hated so much growing up. Again, I stand corrected. They are my go-to shoes for comfort, and it’s time I added a second pair to my closet. I love how loafers are classic and timeless, and how they can elevate any outfit with a touch of sophistication and charm. I like to wear them with jeans and suits, and they always look amazing.
These are some of the things that I learned to love as my style evolved, and I’m sure there are more to come. I’m not saying that I don’t wear high heels or flats anymore, or that I don’t like neutral colours or simple styles. I’m saying that I have more options and more freedom to choose what suits me best, and what makes me feel good.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post and that you found some inspiration for your own style. Remember, comfort is not the enemy of fashion, but its best friend. Wear what you love, and love what you wear. And don’t forget to have fun with it!
Thank you for reading and see you in the next post! 😊
